We made this board in our Paso Robles shop from liquidambar, also called sweetgum, rescued from neighborhood trees in Southern California, in the Anaheim area.

The wood is pale honey with soft brown spalting and a few dark natural cracks running across it. Along the top, a pour of deep green epoxy with a swirl of gold shimmer meets the wood along a wavy line. Our tree emblem is laser-engraved in the lower corner.

It's finished with Butcher Block Revival, the same oil we recommend for keeping it up.

Spalting is nature's signature: the dark lines and soft color come from the wood itself. No two boards look alike, and this is the only one like it. It's made for serving, so keep the knives on a cutting board.
