We made these coasters in our Paso Robles shop from a sycamore we rescued here in San Luis Obispo County. It was a city tree that had to come out because of decay.

Each one is laser-engraved with our “Roots Run Deep” artwork. A wide, spreading oak sits under “Deadwood Revival Design,” and below the ground line its roots wrap around a table, two chairs, and a bookshelf, as if the tree is holding a home. That drawing is the idea behind what we build. A tree has already lived one life by the time it reaches us. We give it another.

A straight stripe of orange epoxy is inlaid near the right edge and runs the full height of the face.

Sycamore has a dense ray fleck, and the tone shifts a little from one coaster to the next. That’s natural to the wood, so your four won’t match exactly. Finished with Natura Onecoat hard wax oil, bare wood on the bottom.
